UBC Okanagan, in partnership with alumni UBC , wants to recognize and celebrate graduating students who made it their mission to give back and get involved while they were a student. UBC Okanagan students who have been involved on — campus or within their community during their studies at UBC Okanagan should consider applying for this award. Involvement may include volunteering on- or off-campus, working on- or off-campus, facilitating mentorship, involvement and leadership in clubs or associations, actively participating in events and initiatives, etc.

Involvement breadth multiple, shorter commitments and depth fewer, longer commitments are equally considered. The following criteria are required to apply:. Math, Science, P. Awards and Scholarships. The Bachelor of Education BEd program offers the following scholarships and awards: Madeline Korfman Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been endowed through a bequest by Madeline Betty Korfman to honour her love for teaching.

Korman taught school in southwestern Saskatchewan before relocating to the Okanagan in the mids. Maxwell A. The recipients of the award are those students who are considered to be an outstanding student in the graduating class. This is awarded to one Teaching Adolescent and one Teaching Children student in their graduating year. This is awarded to a top BEd student in their graduating year based on their academic performance throughout their program.

Sports and Clubs. Sports Take advantage of the many opportunities to get involved and stay active—from workout space in the new Hangar Fitness Centre, to athletic courts, intramurals, fitness classes, and varsity athletics. The Education Post-Baccalaureate Certificate 15 credits and Post-Baccalaureate Diploma 30 credits provide professional development opportunities for educators and respond to the needs of schools and districts for education specialists. These are post-degree professional programs designed to complement post-secondary education that has already been achieved.

The program is designed to prepare teachers and education specialists to work with children and adolescents in a variety of areas, including early learning, inclusive education, and language and literacy. Students can build their own individualized program while still meeting the educational needs and requirements for specialization learning assistance or resource teachers.

The purpose is to expand current knowledge and understanding with practical implications within school environments to support teacher development and so that all students have equitable access to learning and achievement.

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma is awarded after the completion of 30 credits. Students may complete the courses as available in sequence, or take the required number of courses within a six-year maximum period.

Students who begin and complete the certificate program may continue studies and enroll in the diploma program.
