The tracks of PGR3 improve on that of it's predecessors whereby they give a stream less horizon so drivers can see the road ahead without having to wait for graphics to load as they drive. Unlike other racing games, PGR3 is about pure racing and damage to cars is only visual and basic at that. PGR3 uses genuine engine sounds which were recorded in studios, which makes the game sound as realistic as it looks.
Career The career modes in PGR3 are two way, there is an offline mode which pits players against AI drivers and an online career against other players from around the world over Xbox Live. Both careers earn players Kudos and credits for winning races and various events. In the offline career mode there are various difficulty levels from Easy to Platinum with the latter earning drivers more credits.
Gotham TV Part of the Online career or online multiplayer, Gotham TV is a unique system which allows players not racing to view players race around. The Gotham Heroes TV channel features some of the best racers on the game and can be viewed by anyone. Gotham TV also allows you to save replays of races and view them which you can then take screenshots in. You earn Kudos by performing tricks without crashing into something right afterward, if you manage to string together a chain of tricks in a short period of time you get combo bonuses.
The points you earn with tricks are added to points earned for your final place in the race and the whole shebang is tacked onto your Kudos total. Get enough Kudos and you get tokens with which you can unlock new cars. It's a pretty cool way to track racing ability and dish out the game bonuses. Once all of the vehicles are unlocked you will have more than from which to choose. The game is also loaded with tracks, featuring different streets courses to race on in 11 cities.
The game also mixes the races up a bit by including day, night, clear weather and foul weather races. The game features a robust single player mode that constantly checks in with the online world to show how your racing skills compare. All of this is great but it's the online play that truly makes this game a keeper, with a sleek interface that makes setting up an eight way race a breeze and tracks a whole different set of Kudo points.
I don't usually go on about the music in a game, but this game features three radio stations per a city, each with their own local DJ, and more than songs to choose from.
